The Blu-ray Association and Apple have announced [1] today that Apple is joining the Board of Directors of the consortium.

This move is clearly showing that Apple prefers Blu-ray technology over HD-DVD which is the alternative standard.

Blu-ray technology allows to store 25GB on a single sided disc and 50GB on a double-sided one.
