Apple announced today the release of a wireless version of its Mighty Mouse which was introduced one year ago.
The Wireless Mighty Mouse is almost identical to the wired version except that it includes Bluetooth wireless connectivity and is powered by one or two AA batteries.
DailyTech recently reported that Apple would release a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse in the near future, as the company had filed specifications and prototype pictures of the new input device at the FFC web site.

Hints on the future releases of the iPod as well as the iPhone have recently been revealed by patent filings and Apple executives.

A patent filing entilted "Proximity detector in handheld device" seems to be the description of what could be the next major hardware user interface change on the next generation of iPods. The patent filing consists of a device that can detect the presence of your finger in a specific space resulting in a non-touch interaction.

Additionally, Engadget claims that Apple is working on adding eBook reading functionnality to the next iPod, bringing further confirmation to recent rumours that the next iPod could include a larger display.

Apple has released its Q3 financial results today. The company has posted $473 million of profit and 4.37 billion of revenue exceeding analysts' expectations.

The company sold 1.32 million Macs (up 12%) and 8.1 million iPods (up 32%), well ahead of analysts of expectations 1.2 million Macs and merely 8 million iPods.

During the quarter, Apple sold 798 000 portable and 529 000 desktop Macs, respectively up 60% and down 14% sequentially.

Last year the Apple had posted $320 million of profit and $3.43 billionn of revenue. The company posted the second most profitable quarter of its history.

After revealing features of the forthcoming releases of Pages and the development of a spreadsheet application for iWork, ThinkSecret now provides information on the next release of Keynote.

According ThinkSecret's latest report, Keynote will feature half a dozen of additional features, including new themes, new transitions and text-effects, iPod and iWeb exporting.

As it was the case for all Apple's office-centric software offerings, iWork '07 is expected to be released in January 2007.

According to CNET, Apple will not file appeal in the "Asteroid" law-suit it filed against rumour sites AppleInsider and PowerPage last year.

By the way, the company is giving up subpoena requests against these sites, regarding information published on a music peripherial code-named "Asteroid". The information was qualified as "trade secrets" by Apple when the company decided to sue the two sites which had posted similar reports.

AppleInsider recently confirmed rumours that Apple will use the Intel Woodcrest chip in the PowerMac's Intel-based successor.

The 64bit chip uses the Core technology from Intel and will be powered by a 1300Mhz front side bus. The new chip was actually recently announced with the commercial name Xeon 5100.

ThinkSecret recently confirmed long-time rumours that Apple will add a spreadsheet application to its iWork '07 cunsomer office suite. The new application will reportedly be called "Charts" and will target cunsumers and small businesses.

Back in 2002, MacosXrumors was the first to claim that a full office suite replacing AppleWorks was in development, Apple then released a first version of Keynote in January 2003 and Pages early last year.

Apple has announced the availability of a special edition of the iMac through its online education store.

This iMac is actually a minimalist version of the current iMac
- 1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 80GB of storage
- Combo drive drive
- Intel GMA Graphics
- built-in 17" TFT monitor
- built-in wireless
- iSight and Front Row

The new configuration is priced $899 and is available only through Apple's education stores. It comes as replacement of the, now discontinued, eMac line-up.

ThinkSecret reports that the Mac Pro, which is the successor of the PowerMac, and the next-generation MacBook Pro will both feature redesigned enclosures.

The Mac Pro is expected to be released during WWDC 2006 and should be based on the Intel Conroe chip, according to the site.

The MacBook Pro should arrive a bit later, this fall, and is expected to use the Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) processor.

AppleInsider notices that Apple has added two MacBook configurations available only through its retail stores at the moment.

The new configurations consist of a white and a black MacBook running at 2Ghz and including 1GB of RAM, 80GB of storage and a SuperDrive, respectively priced $1449 and $1599.

Additionally, Digitimes, believes Apple's MacBook is selling very well and claims the company has ordered over 120 000 MacBooks for the month of June to AsusTek and that more than 2 million MacBooks could be manufactured and sold until the end of the year. The publication also cites other sources which claim that more than 300 000 MacBooks were produced during June, without giving these sources much credit though.
