Reports on the Internet indicate that Apple is preparing the arrival of the iPhone on several new countries, including Italy for the next few weeks and India for September.

The Italian newspaper La Republica claims that Apple has reached an agreement with Apple over the distribution of the iPhone in Italy. The availability of a 3G model could begin as soon as in June and the country will never see official EDGE-only iPhone sales according to the report.

Apple's model of distribution which usually includes revenue sharing with the telecom provider didn't work with Telecom Italia which won't pay any revenue from its customers' bill to Apple. In exchange, Telecom Italia will not subsidize the device and loses long term exclusivity in favor of a few-months-limited one.

Late last week, another report by Rediff claimed that Apple has agreed with Vodafone for the distribution of the iPhone in India.

India has already a big and active market of unlocked iPhones since easy activating and unlocking tools like ZiPhone have appeared and represents a big opportunity for both Apple and the mobile carrier who will distribute it.
