In a press release issued on its web site, Apple announced that Daniel Cooperman, Oracle's senior vice president, general counsel and secretary will join Apple on November 1.

He will replace Apple's current general counsel, Donald J. Rosenberg who stayed only a few months in the company.

“Dan will be an excellent addition to our team and will fit right into Apple’s fast paced culture,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Dan is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in securities compliance, intellectual property, litigation and corporate governance."

Before Donald J. Rosenberg, Nancy Heinen was the company's general counsel. Heinen had to leave the company a few months before the S.E.C. initiates an investigation on Apple's operations regarding its stock-options policies.
