Please don't Download the "Security Update" (2007-004) because it might slow down your Computer like it did mine. Hopefully, "Apple INC." will do an Mac OS X (10.4.10) Update or another "Security Update".

I installed Security Update

I installed Security Update 2007-004 on my MacBook. After the reboot and typing in my username and password into the login window I was greeted by the Darwin console login prompt, not Finder (i.e., no GUI).

Fortunately, I maintain a bootable backup on an external hard disk, so was able to erase my disk and restore. I did this three times, and on two of the occasions I installed the security update with the same result. I haven't tried installing it again.

I am distinctly unhappy about this, and have reported the bug to Apple.

So, be very careful about installing this update. I thoroughly recommend having a bootable backup on an external hard disk before proceeding.
