Luxembourg's finance minister gave the hint earlier today, Apple may start selling movies on the iTunes store this Spring. Jeannot Krecke said Apple (nasdaq: AAPL - news - people ) bosses have been in discussion 'for several months' with Luxembourg authorities. The deal is pending official confirmation from Apple, he noted. Apple's European iTunes Store is already operating from Luxembourg and the company is reportedly staying in the same country for its movie store related operations. As a MacScoop report pointed out recently, it looks like Apple is working hard on the development of its activities outside the USA, as the company started working on localized versions of its "Get-A-Mac" ad campaign and is making efforts so as to increase its products' distribution in Europe. The French newspaper, Le Figaro, which had already claimed Apple was readying to launch its Movie store in Europe soon, also expects Apple to bypass European laws on availability of movies. Currently, the European law says that movies should be released on DVD (or other medias) six months after their release on the cinema. Apple will sell movies only three months after the cinema release, according to the report. Bookmark/Search this post with:
