AppleGazette claims that Apple is developing a new user interface so as to replace Aqua. The new interface will be renamed "Illuminous". The site's sources said that the new user interface will look like Apple's recent consumer applications such as iTunes 7 or Front Row. The new user interface is expected to be demonstrated by Steve Jobs during MacWorld Expo 2007 which takes place next month in San Fransisco. Apple has dropped first hints on the development of a new user interface earlier this year, when the company published a job posting on Monster.com with the following mission description: “to conceive, design and develop future enhancements to Aqua, the dynamic user interface for Mac OS X” However, AppleGazette is not known yet for having reliable sources at Apple and doesn't provide information on the reliability of this report. MacScoop couldn't confirm these claims either but last year, as we had reported on MacosXrumors, sources had told us that Apple was working on a totally revamped Finder with tight Spotlight integration, new features as well as major user interface changes. Submitted by Jared (not verified) on Tue, 2006-12-12 15:29.I think it is time for a change. We have had Aqua for several years now, and with Vista coming out, I think it would be cool to change things up. Keep the Macs on the cutting edge.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 2006-12-12 16:23.To those who dislike iTunes' UI, "too freaking bad".
When Aqua first came out, there were countless nay-sayers as well. But over time, they've either grown to like it or just accepted it. The same will happen with the new possible UI.
Personally though, I am getting bored of Aqua and I welcome just about any changes to the UI.

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 2006-12-13 12:06.When S. Jobs demoed leopard, he did not show us some "secret features", to keep OS X ahead of winblows Apple need to inovate in the UI too, to compete with "hasta la vista". And they will not shown exactly to stay ahead in the competition and to prevent m$ copiers from copying the new UI into hasta_la_vista!
