UPDATEx3: Full report here.

UPDATEx2: Apple Store Europe re-opens with new Core 2 Duo MacBooks! Report coming.

UPDATE: The US Apple online store is now down as well.

Apple has closed it's European online stores. The homepage of Apple's store now shows the usual yellow post-it stating:

"We're busy updating the store for you, we'll be back shortly"

Temporar close of European stores at this moment of the day usually means a product launch is imminent.

Apple is expected to announce a new line-up of MacBooks that should use the Intel Core 2 Duo chips according to several reports.

Stay tuned as we'll be keeping you informed of the updates.

I also thought they wouldn't

I remember ThinkSecret wrote there would not be any hardware announcements until the end of the year.

ThinkSecret indeed claimed

ThinkSecret indeed claimed that but all the other sites, including MacScoop, claimed the contrary.

Here is the article where TS says "no further revisions to Mac hardware":

Too bad they didn't introduce the rumoured RED version of the MacBook.
