Apple has announced the availability of a special edition of the iMac through its online education store.

This iMac is actually a minimalist version of the current iMac
- 1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo processor
- 512MB of RAM
- 80GB of storage
- Combo drive drive
- Intel GMA Graphics
- built-in 17" TFT monitor
- built-in wireless
- iSight and Front Row

The new configuration is priced $899 and is available only through Apple's education stores. It comes as replacement of the, now discontinued, eMac line-up.

UPDATE: Apple has now restricted orders of the education iMac to institutions only.
