The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple has made an offer to MIT's Media lab initiative for making a $100 laptop for students.

Apple suggested that the $100 laptop could sport free licences of Mac OS X provided by the company. However, Apple's OS was refused because the initiative involves only open-soource software.

Apple's attempt to put Mac OS X on $100 laptops shows that the company is not so opposed to licencing its operating system to other systems than Apple's.
