As CNET News reports, Apple has sent invitation to the press for a special music related event scheduled on September the 7th at the Moscone Center, SF. Apple is expected to make major announcements for music related products during the event.

"1,000 songs in your pocket changed everything, Here we go again" is the slogan present on the invitation. It suggests that Apple will make an announcement that will be as important as the release of the original iPod.

Products that are likely to be announced during the event are the iPod phone (by Apple and Motorola), color iPod minis, a video-enabled iPod and a music video store. That's what has been rumoured since last year about Apple's music strategy.

UPDATE: A reader provides a picture of the invitation sent to the press. It appears that this is not necessary (only) a Music related event.
