Although the DRM deal between Apple and Real did not and will probably never happen, reliable sources recently informed me that Real is committed more than ever to the Mac operating system with new products coming soon for our favourite platform. Real recently released a beta of Real Producer for Mac OS X and according to sources, one of their most important products, the Helix Streaming Server, is already secretly being tested in beta on Mac OS X, in Real's R&D department. One source added that Real had significant feedback from the professional Mac community, asking the company if any Mac port was planned in the near future. The main reason the potential customers have given is that they're planing to migrate to Xserve. Finally, Real Player 10 is obviously also in beta for Mac OS X and will be released during the next three months. No information was given about the development stage either for Real Helix Streaming server or for Real Player 10 for Mac OS X. Bookmark/Search this post with:
